FIRESTONE TIRE AND RUBBER Shortly after The Firestone Tire & Rubber Company was founded in 1900, Firestone tires started appearing in - and winning - automobile races. The first documented Firestone racing victory came in 1909. Firestone also was on Ray Harroun's car when he won the inaugural Indy 500 in 1911. Since that win, drivers on Firestone tires have recorded thousands of victories in different types of competitions around the world. The Firestone Racing program is a unit of Bridgestone Firestone North American Tire, LLC, which is a subsidiary of Bridgestone Americas Holding, Inc. All are based in Nashville, Tenn. The parent company, Bridgestone Corporation, is headquartered in Tokyo.
