Bill Auberlen

The combination of BMW and Bill Auberlen is a recipe for success. Regardless of which model the American takes out onto the track: the driver and car work in perfect harmony. The experienced Auberlen is a true all-rounder. As well as being brilliant in the latest BMW models, such as the BMW M3 GT or the BMW Z4 GT3, he can also look back on experience with historic cars like the BMW V12 LMR, McLaren BMW and the BMW M3 GTR.

Last year Auberlen contested his 250th race in a BMW and not only represented BMW Team RLL in the American Le Mans Series, but also lined up successfully in the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series and the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge - with BMW, of course.

Auberlen claimed his first victory for the brand back in 1997 when he won the Drivers' title in the IMSA GTS-3 with BMW Team PTG in a BMW M3. He raced for Tom Milner's team until 2006, achieving success on numerous occasions. His performances at the endurance classics in Le Mans, Daytona and Sebring were just as impressive as his results in the Speed World Challenge, which he won in 2003 and 2004.

In 2004 he also set a record in the Grand-Am Series, winning six races in a row with the BMW M3 and going on to win the GT championship. In 1999 and 2000 the American successfully competed for BMW Motorsport at the wheel of a BMW V12 LMR prototype.

Auberlen also has fond memories of BMW Team RLL's first victory in Road America with the BMW M3 GT2 in 2009. However, he is determined this will not be the last triumph. This year, the Californian will once again use his wealth of experience to help his team to more titles. In 2011, Auberlen lines up alongside Dirk Werner, another driver with major successes to his name on the American sports car scene.
